The mission of Bureau of Energy Efficiency is to "institutionalize" energy efficiency services, enable delivery mechanisms in the country and provide leadership to energy efficiency in all sectors of the country. The primary objective would be to reduce energy intensity in the economy.

Why energy conservation is important for India ?
  • Energy resources in  India are limited we have only one percent of world's energy resources but our popultaion constitutes 16 percent of world's population.
  • Energy production by thermal power plants and other power plants that uses non renewable energy sources account to large proportion of air pollution and more than 83 percent of greenhouse gas emissions.
  • 'Non renewable energy sources',  make for 80 percent of the fuel use that we use in our daliy although nature has gifted us abundant of  renewable energy sources  that can provide green energy but still we use very less part of it.
